05 October 1941 Activated at Fort Benning, Georgia

24 February 1942 Reorganized and redesignated as the 2d Battalion, 503d Parachute Infantry

02 November 1942 Reorganized and redesignated as the 2d Battalion, 509th Parachute Infantry

10 December 1943 Reorganized and redesignated as the 509th Parachute Infantry Battalion

01 March 1945 Disbanded in France
